REPAIR CAFE
Repair Café received the public vote for funding and has gone on to run the Repair Café in Bournemouth Library.
FLATPACK DEMOCRACY
Fizz used her SOUP money to hold events about Flatpack Democracy and Start a political party of Independents standing for election in the BCP 2019 elections. Independents together with members of the Liberal Democrats, Labour and Poole People went on to form a majority “Unity Alliance” administration with responsibility for £283M in funding.
BOSCOME FRIDGE
Boscombe Fridge was the FIRST Community Fridge in the BCP area and after receiving funding from SOUP. It went on to secure £7000 of funding to support a number of new Community Fridges across Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch.
SPUD BUDDIES
Spud Buddies (Kinson & Westmoors) received the funding they needed for a new Potato Oven for their community café.
THE PAVILION
Claire from the Pavilion at Alexandra Park got support to help with her start-up community café.
SCAPA
We raised money for SCAPA’s (South Coast Academy Of Performing Arts) new “Soup Scholarship” helping disadvantaged kids access Performing Arts in Poole.
SAVE THE OCEANS GIRLS
Save the Oceans Girls was a programme to promote saving the Oceans in Schools led by Natasha Ray.
GROUNDED COMMNUITY
Grounded Community work with others in our community to give everyone access to healthy, nutritious food. They grow and share fruit and veg; they teach others how to grow their own food; they redistribute food surplus from gardens and businesses; and we connect networks of people who store and share homegrown food.
CAMPUS COLLECTIVE
BU’s Campus Collective was a project to get students with green fingers down to the allotments to reap the benefits! Watch a short video here.
MICHAELS HOUSE BIKE REPAIR
Michaels House provides care to people who are rebuilding their lives after being made homeless. The Bike repair project aims to re-purpose old bikes and sell them or rent them to groups as well as provide free transport to people who need it.
INCREASE THE PEACE
Increase the peace is an annual event promoting peace in Boscombe and raises awareness and money to support increasing the peace.
PEBBLES OF KINDNESS
This pebble painting group seeks to provide a space for people including those with mental health problems to paint pebbles that are left for people to find as a random act of kindness.
VITA NOVA
No-one expected what would happen when real people in recovery from addiction performed a short drugs and alcohol awareness educational play for local secondary schools in 1999. It seemed like a good idea! And it was … it had huge, positive benefits not just for the audiences- but also for the actors.
That first production, Scratchin’ the Surface (link), was so powerful it became a runaway success, and was seen by more than 60,000 young people across the south of England
